Game Development

During Katara's time in service to the Twelve she became worlds more open to certain concepts and ideals than she ever would have if left to her own devices. She considered herself adaptable and flexible as a master waterbender should be, but when faced with new trials she discovered just how much more room she had left to grow. During her fourteen months in-game she was made to step back and what reevaluate her priorities and beliefs.

Naturally because of the mature themes of the game some of Katara's core values and personal morals were challenged on a monthly basis. She found herself sometimes asking the question that was once only a fleeting notion, quickly squashed and quieted before. How far was she willing to go to protect herself and the people she loved? There was always a clear cut line before, but not so, there.

If she were to put aside her outrage over being abdupted and manipulated, for the most part Katara considered Zodion and Ophiuchus to be extraordinary and positive detour, if just for the people she met and things she was able to experience. There was such a naturally easy going air about the place in Ourana that it was difficult to remember at times that their presence and their actions were meant to protect not just ZODION, but their own worlds as well. Even the Twelve were constantly encouraging their followers to take the time to stop and smell the roses. Regardless, Katara remained skeptical for the entire first month of her stay.

She was thrown head first into worship at the end of the first month. Her first encounter was a double-hit with both week-four aphrodisiac and the influence of the Twelve's meddling, which influenced both Katara and her partner into very aggressive states. The combination led to a consensual, but rough and demanding first dive into sex. Even though she held no resentment towards the other person and they made the most of it, they also both acknowledged that it was less than ideal. She ultimately found it jarring to have her mindset and emotions toyed with so easily, and in the end it colored her opinion of the whole concept in both negative and positive ways for a while.

From it, she learned that the Twelve's influence could strike at any time and that it wasn't something that could be ignored. She was unnerved by her own lack of control, but more so at how drastically their influence could alter people's personalities. She struggled intensely between guilt and a rising sense of hopelessness of her circumstances afterwards as that sunk in, but rather than breaking under the pressure Katara chose to take matters into her own hands, to adapt and exercise whatever control over the situation that she could. Rather than just seeking out people to "use" she formed friendships naturally during her stay and then willingly turned to them for help when she needed to worship, most of the time anyway. She went into the next encounter with a clear head and so did her partner, but it ended up being even worse.

Where her first experience was fueled by aphrodisiacs and the push of aggression this second encounter was all Katara, and all her partner. Both of them were inexperienced and terribly awkward, and to make matters worse her partner was Shikamaru Nara, who isn't exactly known for being the most motivated. He really just wasn't into it, and though it was no direct fault of her own (since they'd both agreed to it) her confidence took a major hit. It turned out for the better, in a roundabout way, as it turned into a learning experience. Katara worked up the nerve to ask one of the first people she'd met for advice. This person was kind enough to take it a step further and came by to give her actual lessons, let's call it. Their guidance left her in a much better place, mentally and emotionally. Three entirely different experiences- how's the saying goes? Third time's the charm?

After that Katara's outlook on sex finally took a turn for the better. Not every encounter went well or was even voluntary, but the boost in confidence definitely had a lasting effect. She'd finally found her stride and figured out how best to adapt, and as she became more comfortable with the idea of sex she found it actually brought her closer to some of her friends instead of making things awkward. It became another way of helping people, of strengthening bonds with the people she loved, and she came to enjoy the act simply for the sake of enjoying it once she had a few months under her belt, discovering a sensuality she didn't know she had.

Katara's second major point of personal growth was the struggle she faced in finding a balance between her "real" life and her life with the Twelve. The main catalyst for that conundrum was her relationship with Zuko in specific. It was always complicated, start to finish, but always platonic. In Ourana they found that adding in the element of sex really began to blur the line between the type of bond they shared, platonic or romantic?

She had to come to terms with having sex to maintain her senses (she still didn't like it but she came to terms with it), she could even deal with the Twelve's ridiculous pranks. What was difficult to come to grips with was discovering how easily their entire lives could be flipped overnight.

Zuko was familiar, and the only person from her world, and he was there almost from the start of it all. Naturally they eventually became regular worship partners during his early months in the city. Katara was still in a point of turmoil over her feelings for Aang at the time she and the two were allowed to focus on their relationship without the constant presence of the others in the mix. It was confusing and messy and Katara had to learn to accept the complicated reality of their situation, that at any time things could change back home that would have lasting consequences on her life in game. Even after her last stay Katara was still trying to learn how to come to grips with living two separate lives and what she'd do if those lives ever came into direct conflict.

Life on Ophiuchus was more her speed. There were elements of her previous stint with the Twelve, but this time around she was part of the crowd trying to restore life to the planet, and the act of worship became more essential than ever. They lacked many, many of the creature comforts (like soap and clean beds) that Ourana had offered, and an easy 90% of Katara's CR was gone. Thankfully she already had a full year under her belt of dealing with the gods, so she managed to approach the matter of worship with surprising objectivity, though still some measure of guilt.

She gained a great many friends and valuable lessons, even new skills during her stay. Overall I'd say that it made her just a bit more rounded.

PERSONALITY: Katara, in summary, is resourceful, compassionate, hopeful, protective, passionate, and determined, but she can also be stubborn, short sighted, opinionated, hypocritical, and spiteful. She's undergone a great many trials despite her relatively young age, and matured into a strong and confident woman to show for it.

For a hundred years the war has raged, with only the Northern Water Tribe, Omashu, Ba Sing Sei, and pockets of areas the Fire Nation hasn't cared to occupy managing to stand against the Fire Nation's march for conquest. Her mother was brutally killed by a soldier from the Fire Nation, a fact that has always haunted Katara, and the avatar, the only one who might be able to END all of this suffering disappeared over one hundred years before. Despite all of this she remained filled with quiet hope until the day that she and Sokka uncovered Aang's iceberg. Since then that hope has burned as bright as a beacon and served to hold their family together through the course of the war. Even at her lowest Katara can always manage to pick herself back up and find hope with the help of friends.

Beyond the Gaang Katara deeply and fiercely about people, be they family, friends, her tribe, or just people in need. She can’t stand to see others suffer and will willingly dive headlong into danger to help them.

She’s so completely loyal and devoted to the well being of the people around her that she can be overbearing at times. She's often referred to as being "motherly", sometimes detrimentally so such as when Toph starts to feel that Katara is smothering the group. She comes by that organically: Kya's death left a hole in the tribe, one that Katara's paternal grandmother began teaching her to help fill. She took to it so well that even Sokka (the older of the siblings) admits that when trying to remember Kya's face Katara's is the only one he can picture.

She's the first to offer emotional and moral support: hugs, a kind word, encouragement and reassurance, unsolicited advice, or an ear for venting. At times others find her to be overbearing, and though it clearly stems from love she has had to learn to try to dial it back and let things be from time to time.

You know what they say about the road to Hell, though, how it's paved with good intentions. When Katara detours the group Sokka is often the one trying to convince her that she should let things be we have our own problems. His “these people are on their own” attitude clashes with her values and this can lead to her sneaking behind the others backs to do what she thinks should be done. This is because she possesses an uncompromising sense of right and wrong. Also because of these traits she can sometimes be a busybody, inserting herself into other people's problems, heedless of the consequences or if she's been asked to. The trouble she brings on the Gaang is never intentional but also rarely enough to dissuade her from her course once decided.

In a lot of ways Katara demonstrates many of the same qualities as her birth element. The adaptability, the give and take, patience, and persistence... she can be a soothing trickle or she can be a relentless torrent. She has the wisdom to recognize when a problem needs time to solve, and the patience to wear it down over time, but sometimes she focuses too much on the big picture and overlooks the little details. On the surface Katara is polite, caring, and open-minded, someone who believes in fairness and compromise, underneath that is also a cunning warrior with an inner strength and tenacity needed for their guerrilla warfare approach. She can be genuinely apologetic while she’s freezing your hands in place against a wall, or she can give you the cold shoulder while she’s healing a gash on your leg. She's too merciful to leave anyone for dead, and that caring nature may very well move her to help even her enemies, but it doesn't impede her from holding a grudge or disapproving of their actions and choices.

Her resourcefulness also lends her some talent for coming up with elaborate ruses and such, but her do-gooder attitude prevents her from really breaking loose often. Katara is a terrible liar, most of the time, but surprisingly a fairly skilled actress. She may deny having any urge to snoop but the truth is she’ll be right there with you while you dig in another person’s drawers, trying to convince you the whole time that it’s wrong, yet still be unable to walk away for her own curiosity.

Her compassion might be what moves her but her moral compass keeps her on point, treating others with kindness even in situations where it’s not expected of her, and checking loved ones when they step out of line. That being said Katara's moral compass can be skewed at times. She will bend her own values to solve a problem if she thinks something is already in conflict with them. It gets to the point where she can be downright hypocritical, stealing from thieves while openly disapproving of their thievery, for instance. Katara has a long temper but she holds grudges when she feels deeply wronged, and on very rare occasion can get so angry and stubborn that she fails to recognize or dare when she's saying hurtful things to people.

Because she loves so completely she's hurt all the more by acts of betrayal than others. Katara will find a way to move mountains to help you, and breaking her trust is probably the most hurtful thing you could do to her, but it IS possible to earn her forgiveness again in time. Despite experiencing a few betrayals over the course of the series Katara remains true to her beliefs, and ultimately chooses to continue seeing the good in people.

POWERS/ABILITIES: Wiki: Waterbending, Healing, and Bloodbending, or I've typed it up in my own words with examples here for a previous app.

• Bloodbending may or may not need nerfing, which is fine by me if so (and she won't miss it since she didn't have access to it in her previous game/s), but I'd rather leave it to mod discretion for the final decision. At the very least it would very obviously require a section on her permissions/opt-in post, which I will be sure to include if the ability isn't nerfed. Unlike other characters in the series Katara is only capable of bending during a full moon. She isn't inclined to use it but I'd be lying if I said she'd never try, considering the readiness with which she broke it out while looking for Yan Ra.

• Before her stay in Zodion Katara had not mastered bending using the rest of her body. AFTER her stay in Zodion, however, Katara learned the more modern styles of bending from Korra and began studying Zuko and Mako. This doesn't constitute any new powers, but is an expansion of her bending style.

• She also trained in physical hand to hand combat with Prince Tygra and Alphonse Elric, and was mentored in how to "freerun" (hardcore parkour) by Ezio Auditore.

INVENTORY:

• Momo, a flying leemur from her world
• A bag containing some clothes
• Her previous network device
• A hand made bone knife
• A photo album she was gifted by the Twelve

✘ .//. Waterbending

sifukatara: (Default)
Waterbending; This is essentially hydrokinesis: manipulation of water and it's sub-classes/other forms (ice, snow, mist, fog, bodily fluids such as blood and sweat, liquid based foods such as soups or stews, mud if it's watered down enough, slurry, and sludge- again, if it's watered down enough). She can move and control water through certain body cues (mostly her arms, hands, and breath). This extends to water that she can't see (such as water in pipes, or water underground) as long as she knows it's there and it is within "reach" (overhead, underground, or a few yards away). It has a wide range of uses, from domestic, to combat, to healing.

May 2012-June 2012

Katara's arrival to Ourana (the city in which the game took place) was a memorable one. Though initially furious upon learning that she and many others had been kidnapped, seemingly for the amusement of supposed "gods", she quickly had things put into perspective forher by a couple of helpful veterans. If the twelve gods didn't gain enough power then things got grim-dark for the guests, the natives, and also potentially their own worlds. No "worship"/sex, no Twelve. No Twelve, worlds are screwed. She reluctantly came around to the idea, though she failed to heed any and all warnings about putting off finding a partner to worship with before it was too late.

Instead, Katara took that time to learn her way around the city and the modern appliances and conveniences offered. When the time finally came to worship her first encounter was with a young man named Alphonse Elric. The two had already met on her first day and hit it off pretty well as friends. He was one of several to show her around the city and help her learn the ropes a bit. He, like several others, would go on to become some of her closest CR and didn't hesitate to step up to offer his assistance when he thought she needed it. She'd been warned by Al and several others about the "pranks" that their twelve hosts liked to play but still found herself getting swept along with them that first month. This involved several types of flowers in the city invoking certain urges from people. Katara and Alphonse found themselves victims of this one on one of their outings, making Alphonse the second boy that Katara had ever kissed, though they didn't go further than that. It didn't bother her too much if just because the two of them were turning out to be good friends, and at the time she hadn't committed to any kind of relationship or even her own feelings about Aang. The next event had a much larger impact on her visit in Zodion and I'll explain why a little further on, but it basically involved people all over the city being overcome by strange urges and aphrodisiacs.

Katara, having already put off having sex for a month despite warnings of what would happen after three or more weeks, was meeting with Alphonse on the beach for one of their morning spars. They were both being affected by the event (which made both of them feel somewhat irritable and aggressive) and both of them were also somewhat overcome by their tattoos and the aphro-effect. It was rough and rushed and it frightened her in the back of her mind, thinking about how little control either one of them had and how easily the Twelve were able to strip that away. The flip side to that was it also made her resolve never to voluntarily give up what little choice she had in the matter again. She didn't hold anything against Alphonse and never did end up telling him about exactly how unnerved she was by the loss of control, not wanting to strain their friendship.

June 2012-July 2012

The following month a land-shift took place. The Twelve changed the appearance and memories of the city and everyone within to reflect a medieval fantasy realm. Right before that another person from her world showed up from home- the next Avatar after Aang, from seventy years in Katara's future. Korra was pointed her way by a mutual acquaintance and surprised her in person, where the two spoke at length and introductions were shared. This was when Katara learned about her future with Aang and the family that they would eventually have together back home, also marking the start of her internal struggle to reconcile living two entirely different lives. Maybe one week after that meeting the whole of Zodion was made over in a fairytale kingdom image. Katara was placed as a tavern maid but also did mercenary work on the side, and during the course of the event she ran into another familiar face from home- Zuko. Now Zuko didn't come from the same point in time that Katara did (more on that below as well). The last he remembered seeing her he had just horribly betrayed and broken her trust, which led to Aang getting hurt. Katara's last memory was just the opposite, having just forgiven him for that very deed. They had an explosive encounter behind the tavern, in which he inadvertently accused her of giving up and lowering herself, and Katara lashed out in embarrassment and frustration over being reminded of her own helplessness. Somehow the two still managed to part on tentatively good terms with Katara offering to help him if he needed it, because even if he didn't feel the same she still considered him a friend and she wouldn't turn her back on him should he need her. She didn't want him to end up in the same position that she had.

The land-shift event came to a close when the Twelve's enemy, the Rasalhague, found their way in and invaded by sea. Katara was among those that went to help, as was her nature. Unfortunately since her healing powers hadn't come back to her just yet this meant she was limited in how much aid she could offer and was left mostly playing offense and defense. She wanted to do whatever she could to help buy people time to evacuate and to protect her friends. She fought alongside several people she'd met during her stay thus far, even Zuko, even though he didn't remember them reconciling their differences. However she reached her limit at a crucial point in the fighting. She was badly injured and had to withdraw from the fight, relying on others to heal the severe wounds she'd received during the fighting (along her outer rib cage). Things returned to normal on Zodion, or at least the environment did. Katara's apartment was consequently burned down as it was in the damaged part of town from the invasion and in light of that she ended up moving in with a friend for a few months while she physically recovered. She had to take things slow, but the healers had managed to take care of the worst of the damage. In the end she was left with scarring, which left her a bit shaken, but unbroken. During that same summer she also got her first job working as a server and eventually moved to the prep area of the kitchen at a steakhouse, where one of her friends, Kuzuki, was already working.

In the middle of all of this she had her first sexual encounter with Zuko, initially born from an argument, frustration, and him being at the end of his first three weeks in the city. When Katara learned of this she offered her help, which he was surprised by but ultimately accepted. During this time he saw the scars from her wounds and despite the fact he couldn't remember their development back home, upon realizing she'd been wounded after they parted during the invasion, seemed to express some sort of remorse that she'd been hurt and he hadn't been able to protect her. It was actually a very tender bonding experience for the two of them- strictly on a platonic level at that time -which surprisingly made things less awkward between them rather than the opposite. The two of them had several more encounters over the weeks, with Zuko becoming more protective and coming to see Katara as a friend while Katara finally started to loosen up about her stay a little more. Having someone familiar that she already knew so well and trusted to turn to for worship had a lasting impact on her mood, as it turns out. The first couple of encounters WERE a little awkward as they transitioned from friends into- well, still friends but with physical and emotional intimacy thrown into the mix -until worshiping together became so natural and comfortable that they'd even developed a playful, somewhat flirtatious atmosphere around one another. It wasn't just surface-deep, either. Over the following months Katara was developing legitimate feelings for him and vice versa. Whoops. Sokka, princess Yue, Bolin, and Mako (as well as Tarrlok and Amon, and Asami a little later) all arrived from their world and in between helping everyone settle in and playing Team Mom as usual Katara began working on an idea to put together a bending school.

The marriage-event was a natural fit for Katara, letting her fill a role that came natural and easy to her, enjoying the rarity of a monogamous relationship in a place where the only constant was change and she'd gone through a very large number of partners in the span of just a few months. It only lasted for a little while but it kind of helped shape her perspective of her stay once again, deciding that she could actually be perfectly fine with physical and sexual intimacy with people other than a significant other as long as she thought of it as being just another way to express affection and platonic love. Sure it was a lot more forward than she would have personally considered, left to her own devices, but it made sense.

A perfect example of this included the few days she spent playing "wife" to Ezio. Just earlier that month (June) she'd reached out to him for help. He was one of her first friends in that place and the first partner she really, truly chose of her own accord- no aphrodisiacs, no event shenanigans, just her own conscious decision. She was feeling a little embarrassed about an extremely awkward encounter- only her second one -and had asked him to give her some pointers regarding sex and Ezio volunteered himself for one-on-one lessons. Actually that encounter with Ezio reshaped Katara's view on sex as a whole. Her first encounter was involuntary and satisfying but also uncontrolled, the second was voluntary but painfully awkward and uncomfortable, and then the last one was, well, perfect. Or almost. Ezio taught her how to be confident and how that confidence could be the greatest tool at her disposal. He also advised her to take each partner and encounter as their own individual beasts, rather than trying to apply one mindset to all of them. Each encounter was going to have a different flavor to it. It was up to her to adapt in each situation which- as a master waterbender -should come natural enough if she just trusted her instincts. HA HA HA wow that's corny I'm sorry

August 2012-December 2012

There was one in-game event that took place in August that shook Katara up pretty badly. The handcuff event, on the other hand, was a harsh reminder of how easy it was for the Twelve to control them and their actions, forcing them into unpleasant situations and encounters. She was chained to both Tarrlok and Amon on different days of the event, two separate encounters where they were literally forced to put aside their differences if they wanted to get out of the mess they were in. With Tarrlok there was a long, mostly uncomfortable talk about bloodbending and the negative consequences it had on their lives, and how her views on the ability had shaped his. With Amon she was just left feeling degraded by the lack of alternatives. She would have preferred to give it time and wait it out but Amon made it clear he didn't intend to wait around all day for the Twelve to finish having their laughs. There was never a directly spoken threat on his part but Katara didn't know what he was capable of, so despite the encounter ultimately being one of consent it was only given under duress, meaning Katara still came away from it with a sense of being violated in a way. She also felt a sense of self-disgust over taking any sort of pleasure from the act, even just physical.

A few days after what happened with Amon and the handcuff incident she'd stopped by Zuko's apartment to cook for him. Sharing meals every now and then was something of a routine for them, and since he'd won a recent wager she'd agreed to cook for him for a week anyway. During this visit Zuko could tell that something was off and when Katara finally caved and told him what happened he ended up consoling her about it when she finally broke down. Katara expressed the disappointment she felt towards herself, that in spite of how long they'd been there she was still so helpless.

When Katara's roommate eventually returned to his own world Katara continued to stay in his apartment. It wasn't until she finally went through with her decision to open a bending school that she moved out. She took up residence in the apartments that they included for the instructors. After talking it over with Zuko they made arrangements for him to help her with repaying the loan- which entailed worshiping TWICE a month at minimum instead of once. Considering how often they'd taken to having sex with one another neither of them foresaw it being a problem. Unfortunately, shortly after the details of the loan were finalized and a little while after they'd started taking on students both of them returned home (ooc'ly this was originally for a double-canon update).

When Katara came back a week later she came back alone. She was honestly pretty devastated by the turn of events, since Zuko was the one constant who had been there almost as long as she had, her closest friend, worship partner, and the only one from home that knew her so well, but life went on. She continued to run the school- well, more specifically she taught at the school while one of her good friends (Ezio Auditore) ran the numbers and taught her how to manage -with what staffing she was able.

And then Mr. Honor turned back up again dying from a lightning strike a couple weeks later. Stop playing with her emotions Zuko it isn't very princely of you.

December 2012-January 2013

Coming back around to Zuko's return: As I said, Zuko was brought back to Zodion just two or three weeks after Katara herself. They were up to speed as far as recent events now but unlike her he had no memories of his previous stay (this, due to the fact he was being picked up by a new player who consented to carrying over their previous CR on Katara's side). He was invited to move into the school for the sake of their group of friends sticking together and things became awkward for everyone. When she realized that he had no recollection of their time together Katara resolved not to pursue worshiping with him unless it was absolutely necessary for him. He felt (rightly so) like she was hiding something from him and Katara refused to tell so things became pretty tense. After a while they actually came close to rekindling a sexual relationship, but Katara found it difficult to avoid making inaccurate assumptions about his dating status, which dashed any attempts in the end.

Things with the bending school went reasonably well. Katara was able to find other old friends to worship with who were still around. In time things began to fall into a routine, with the group learning how to live under one roof together in a world where things could otherwise become potentially awkward, very fast. Naturally it all had to go to hell in a handbasket, and it did, spectacularly, thanks to a charity date-auction.

At the very tail end of Katara's first visit this auction was held to raise funds for the new welcome center founded by one of the other "abductees". Someone signed up both Katara and Zuko, among many others, but since it was for a good cause Katara had no problem in attending. During the event she got into a competitive bidding war with princess Yue over Zuko, surprising herself with how high they'd managed to go before she finally, sheepishly, conceded defeat. Later on at that same event Alphonse and Zuko also got into their own bidding war over Katara, which led to Katara and Zuko having a fight that ended with them both bending at one another in a semi-private confrontation later that night. It was absolutely the last straw for the two, with Zuko moving out of the school and into his own apartment. He didn't even intend to tell her he was leaving, she found out by dumb luck.

The two of them didn't talk for a month after that, until Katara finally went to drop off some of his things and make sure he hadn't locked himself up to die of withdrawal. Sometime right after that encounter they both returned home.

June 2013-September 2013

Katara returned to Zodion in June that year, alone again. After coming to grips with the return and realizing she was starting off at only half her bending strength she set about straightening out her affairs. She returned to the bending school to find that it had been closed in her absence, so she gathered up she and Sokka's, Korra's, Yue's, and Zuko's remaining things and moved into her own newly assigned apartment. It turned out that her friend (and one of her worship partners), Kuzuki, was still around and ended up carrying their old work place (the steakhouse) on his own since the previous owner had disappeared, so coupling what she'd learned from Ezio about managing her school, along with Kuzuki's knowledge of the grills they teamed up. He decided to hire her on as his co-owner. They worked well together, with him managing the chefs and Katara managing the finances and managed to keep the business afloat (though by no means booming) for the entire duration of her secondary stay. More than anything it served as a place for new arrivals to get their bearings and have a free meal while they asked questions about this world they'd found themselves in.

As people from home began to turn up again (Like members of Korra's "Krew") Katara took on her mantle of "Team Mom" again, providing info, a warm meal, and a calm ear to listen and answer questions as they turned up one by one. It felt good to go back to something familiar with how uprooted everything else had become.

She settled back into life in the city and tried to focus on helping the people around her. Zuko did return a third time as well three months later (picked up by the 2nd player once again) and Katara finally pulled him aside (so to speak) for a Serious Talk. This is when she admitted that she'd developed feelings for him and he finally acknowledged that the feeling was mutual, but faced with the very real possibility of his girlfriend and Katara's eventual boyfriend/husband showing up Katara suggested that they remain Just Friends.

June 2014-August 2014

When Katara arrived on Ophiuchus it was two- almost three years later in canon time. She arrived with her memories of Zodion intact but also a little bit jumbled because of the years spent at home with no recollection of the place. It took her at least a week to get everything in order and reconcile the two timelines- her two "lives" so to say. She arrived with Appa (Momo was given to her later by the Twelve, along with her clothes and Appa's old saddle) but no one else from home.

In some ways life on Ophiuchus felt more familiar. Katara opted to stay with Appa atop one of the pillars and pitch camp there, rather than living in one of the dorms. It helped her to feel a little bit more like she was at home. It also gave her plenty of time to try to sort through things. Due to the years back home and her experience with the Twelve before Katara was much more subdued about the whole ordeal. Her relationship with Aang back home complicated things and conflicted with her memories, leaving her feeling guilty and unsure how to handle things in case either Aang or Zuko (retaining his memories) showed up. That never became an issue, thankfully.

Each day she'd visit the settlement and the Zodion natives to trade for supplies and offer her assistance. She developed a routine, get up, do her morning clean up, yoga, and then fly out on Appa to check for any major land changes. After a fly around she'd go to see if anyone was in need. That went double for when new arrivals came, when Katara would check the network half in hopes of seeing a familiar face and half to help people with the myriad of questions they inevitably had. Eventually Bolin returned with memories of Zodion as well, along with Mako and Korra who had no recollection. Their stay was short but Katara was glad for the familiar faces while it lasted.

During her first month she organized an expedition to explore the land beyond the furthest landmark and had several volunteers tag along with her. They didn't manage to find anything, but it felt good to take initiative. Others took notice of this as well and she was just mildly surprised when people agreeing to tag along seemed to trust her enough to take lead on the trip, since she was more accustomed to following. It just goes to show how much more confident she'd become.

Her stay came to a final conclusion not long after their fruitless expedition.

April 2019-December 2019

Katara's stay in Prismatica was comparatively shorter, but she had the opportunity to reunite with some familiar faces and gained access to INDOOR PLUMBING again. Ourana really spoiled her on Indoor Plumbing.

During this world hopping venture she came to on the moon, her last memory being from the expedition. After being relocated to planet-side proper Katara wasted no time getting familiar with her new environs, just walking around and taking in the sights, speaking with the locals and familiarizing herself with her new device. During that first part of her stay she ran into Cloud Strife, whom she'd met during her stays in both Zodion and Ophiuchus, but not as she remembered him. Physically he was more or less the same person, but he had no memories of their time there. Regardless of this he was willing to hear her out, didn't scoff at her or call her a liar, and the two became friends for the second time.

She also met Tarrlok again that same day, but unlike with Cloud this time it was Katara's memories that failed her. OOC the reason for this was my giving each player the choice on if she'd recall her past CR with their character in detail, if it would be vague, or if it would be completely fuzzy, more akin to deja vu. Tarrlok was a case of the latter. For her this was the first time they got to meet, and after he'd helped her retrieve her mother's necklace from a pickpocket she was more than happy to make his acquaintance. Hearing that he was from the Southern Water Tribe the two became fast friends, and became bath & body product shopping buddies.

Some other familiar faces she encountered again: Edward Elric, Korra, Asami, and Seifer Almasy, to name a few. Her relationships with all of these people were either vastly improved or welcomed familiarities. Overall life in Lunatia was a pleasant improvement in every way, even though she would miss the friends she'd made previously.

Once she was reunited with Seifer and realized that he remembered her the two became roommates, and in an unlikely twist Seifer began helping Katara unravel her complicated and unresolved feelings about her relationship with Zuko, learning to move on past the lack of closure enough that every little reminder of him didn't twist her up into messed up knots.

The nature of Lunatia meant more of the same shenanigans, but with a different flavor. The result was Katara and Seifer becoming entangled, eventually leaning towards a romantic relationship. The two had moved into a larger house together with Asami and Korra while downsizing to share a bedroom. They were just putting a tentative label on what they had when Katara and Seifer were both dropped from the game.
In Closing:

It's worth mentioning that because of a combination of her canon-point hopping, world-hopping, relationships, and the nature of the games that Katara was in previously her canon-relationships have become at once complicated and simplified.

At her current canon-point, yes, Katara and Aang are dating in the comics. However, because she developed romantic feelings for others in Ourana before her relationship with Aang came to a head in canon, and because of the length of time spent in these other places Katara has taken the approach of viewing her time in "game" as a sort of second life. It was the only way that she was able to really cope with the differences in experiences and memories, especially since she'd encountered nearly every significant castmate at some point during her stay in these respective games and she now carries memories of their time together in a world/worlds not their own.

In other words: After around 2-2.5 years of development in these games Katara has both had feelings for others and actually been in other relationships and Kataang is no longer the only viable option for her. I'll do my best to work with any potential castmates, but to those who are reading this I ask for your patience and understanding.
